How to find the order yourself
There’s lots of scattered information in books, room and item descriptions, but keep in mind that you can also examine each bust / statue.
Simply add it to your Consider verb, with any element of soul, and it will more often than not tell you who they were and a bit of their story. That might give you the push you need.

What happens when you fill out the Grand Ascent
Place all the busts in their correct niches and take a look at the slot for the thirteenth librarian (your successor), at the top of the staircase. You should see an icon to “curate” the list of librarians.
Click it, and you will get a reward!
I suspect everyone gets the same one. I got a Wist, which is the part of the soul responsible for memory and that part which remains.
